1) This was used by Home Guard soldiers who would have been given it with their rifle but their rifles were sometimes very old and not as good as those given to regular soldiers. Why do you think this was?
2) Why was it important for the men to keep their rifles oiled?
3) Sometimes people made fun of the Home Guard soldiers because they were often too young or old to join the regular army. How would this make you feel and would you have still joined?

1) This was used by Home Guard soldiers who would have been given it with their rifle but their rifles were sometimes very old and not as good as those given to regular soldiers. Why do you think this was?
ANSWER: Because there was not enough materials to make them and the best weapons had to go to the regular army.
2) Why was it important for the men to keep their rifles oiled?
ANSWER: To keep it working properly.
3) Sometimes people made fun of the Home Guard soldiers because they were often too young or old to join the regular army. How would this make you feel and would you have still joined?
ANSWER: This answer is up to you, though many Home Guard soldiers were very proud of what they did.
