1. Did this sponge have a hard or a soft body?
2. While you can still get a lot of sponge fossils, they aren’t as common as some of the hard shelled creatures in the fossil record. Why do you think this is?
3. Do you have any real sponges in your bathroom at home? You can tell if they’re real because they have a rougher appearance than rubber ones that have been through a machine. If you have one why not take a picture or ask the teacher if you can bring it into school to show everyone?

ANSWER: It had a soft body.

ANSWER: Because they are softer they don’t fossilise as well.
